David ProttasAn American in Paris
As a member of the New York City Ballet for nearly ten years, David has had the privilege of dancing a wide range of repertoire by some of the great choreographers of the 20th and 21st century. As a teacher, he loves passing on his passion for dance by creating a safe environment in which students can simultaneously focus on technical skills and find their own creativity and sense of expression within the discipline. Studying at the National Ballet School and eventually training at the School of American Ballet, David strives to include a mixed syllabus in his class, combining both classical and neo-classical aspects. He has experience teaching a wide range of students, from absolute adult beginners, young children, those with mental and physical handicaps and professional dancers.
As a member of the New York City Ballet, David has performed in works by George Balanchine, August Bournoville, Justin Peck, Jerome Robins, Troy Shumacher, Susan Stroman, Peter Martins and Christopher Wheeldon.
We saw West SIde Story on Tuesday night and my daughter was beside herself getting to meet some of the cast and learn a number from them. She hasn’t stopped talking about the experience. Thank you so much for making workshops like this possible. The impact of them on the kids is immeasurable!” - P. & Daughter
Broadway Connection is a step above the rest when it comes to directly linking the stars to the studio! The kids LOVED it! And, the parents loved the Q&A session at the end of the workshop too. Our students, staff, and the parents can't stop talking about what a positive experience it was!” - K. Owings
